Wild but romantic Petone Wedding... burnouts, fireworks, Combi's and a beach ceremony. Kylie and Andy.

There was something for everyone at this wedding - Kylie and Andy certainly went out with a bang on their day on Saturday! It started with the American muscle cars with burnouts up and down the road outside their Petone home. The ceremony was beautiful despite the wind that attacked Kylie's veil relentlessly, but they were very lucky with the weather. I thought it was going to be howling all day but as it turned out, it was well behaved for Wellington!

After walking along the beach near the jetty we ventured further afield and explored  some old boatsheds on the bank of the Hutt River that are always good fun to shoot with. Out came the champagne and the baby blue VW Combi (looked gorgeous!!!) and we spent and hour or so taking photos. They held their reception at "The Jetty" on Petone Esplanade http://www.jettycafe.co.nz/ Check them out if you want cool Wellington harbour views. The Grand Finali was an intimate fireworks display on the beach!

Thanks Kylie and Andy for a great day, you guys were so relaxed and such great fun   - I will certainly remember it!

Photography Tip - BE PREPARED! Often things spring up that you were not quite expecting. You have to think on your feet and respond quickly. In this case I did not know about the firwosrks and had less than 2 minutes to set up for this shot. A long exposure on  a tripod with instructions to the bride and groom to sit very still! I also used an off camera flash to help light some of the dark foreground.
