Screwing in light bulbs whilst patting the dog were the instructions we received whilst learning Bollywood dancing recently – we laughed, but it works!
Ushma and Alpesh had a full traditional Hindu wedding in Wellington a short while ago and we were asked to document the day. I must admit, I get very excited and daunted at the same time when we shoot these amazing events. On the one hand you have the colour, vibrancy, a cacophony of expressions and people and on the other you have a very, very long day to get through. Low light, lots of action, lots of jostling, all in the spirit of capturing the moment.
Both Ushma and Alpesh wanted to bring a flavour of Bollywood to their day, so a trip to the top of some grassy hills in Titahi Bay, Porirua set the scene for a boy-meets-girl dance-a-thon on this windswept lofty backdrop. A touch of formality and a riot of colour and laughter saw us through.
