Wide sweeping, isolated sands and breaking foamy waves was a magnificent backdrop for Ana and Daggs wedding one Friday on private land near Castlepoint, on the Wairarapa coast earlier this year. And who needs a wedding ring when a Stihl chainsaw will do the trick? Well I did say to the crew that this wedding was going to be a little different!
The sand got between people’s toes and into their Sandwidges and drinks but no one cared. The smiling bride shuffled down the beach to meet her man and the vows we exchanged. It came to the rings and Ana had substituted this traditional trinket with a new petrol chainsaw! Why? Not sure where the romantic connection is with that gesture but it meant something to them obviously as everyone joined in with a mixture of laughter or bewilderment, depending how well they knew the two of them.
Hopping on and off of quad bikes and in and out of barns summed up the afternoon bridal wedding photography and a marquee and a mobile Hells Pizza van helped usher in the evenings’ celebrations held in the paddock next to the beach. All the guests settled down on rugs under bunting and floodlights as the sun dipped below the hills.
Nice one guys – what a great wedding it was. Big thanks to Ana and Daggs for the laughs and the good times.
